Ode to a Bluejay

“Be careful who you choose”

I became chosen.

a picturesque moment frozen

within a watch

that can never thaw.

Is a smile,

both needed and desired.

‘At my big age’

I smell every colour

that manifests in the rain-

I taste the perfection of a rose.

When encased in your presence,

I hear your sincerity.

A blue jay flew home

Unaware of her allure.

The Margret to a lost Mordecai.

Clutching at a branch far out of reach

I gazed at a nest of gold,

that nurtures my soul.

If a cry leaves lips

at frustration to fly,

I will carry you.

Wherever you go,

a blue jay never calls alone.
